Our approach

At ComPlexus we are all systemic-relational psychologists and we are passionate about people, stories and contexts. In particular, our reference approach is the Milan Approach , a set of knowledge and techniques developed by Luigi Boscolo and Gianfranco Cecchin starting from the 1970s at the Milan Center for Family Therapy.

It has become famous throughout the world as a hub for innovative therapeutic practices and matrices of change.

We can identify as points of reference the studies of Bateson and Palo Alto (Watzlawick, Beavin, Jackson 1967), the general theory of systems (von Bertalanaffy 1968), first-order cybernetics and subsequently second-order cybernetics (von Foerster 1967 ), constructivism (Maturana and Varela 1967), and social constructionism (Gergen and McNamee 1998).

A cornerstone of the Milan Approach that is particularly close to us is curiosity , understood as interest and openness towards all the voices of a system: we value everyone's point of view in a polyphony of voices , starting from which we can expand the possibilities for the system.
When we enter into a relationship we immerse ourselves in the other's world, taking into account the uniqueness of the person and the bonds he has built in his life experience and in the contexts in which he moves.

Moreover, with our stories and our premises , we also participate in the patients' lives by bringing ourselves and our views into the relationship. We believe in freedom and self-determination : through the therapeutic alliance we think that everyone can learn to best express himself in the most authentic way.

For us, suffering, symptoms, and psychological disorders are expressions of blocks and knots in the flow of people's life stories. The therapeutic relationship allows us to co-construct a new narrative in which psychological fatigue makes sense and becomes a resource from a constraint.
You will show us your folds and we will stand by your side as you unfold them.
